This site is dedicated to Sewdass Sadhu, the zealous Indian labourer who constructed the extraordinary temple in 1947 unaided and ridiculed. The story behind this attraction is truly amazing as it demonstrates that anything is possible once you put your mind to it. The temple is a perfect example of human persistence. This Hindu temple is regarded as a National Treasure to Trinidad and Tobago. Sadhu’s famous words were “You broke the mandir on the land. Then I will build my mandir on nobody’s land. I will build a mandir in the sea.” (Mandir means temple in Hindi)
